Kati Stevens & Andrew Bomback

“Doctor” and “Fake” are part of Bloomsbury's Object Lessons, a series of short, beautifully designed books about the hidden lives of ordinary things.

At turns serious, comedic, analytical, and confessional, Andrew Bomback's Doctor offers an unflinching look at what it means to be a physician today.

Kati Stevens's Fake, on the other hand, discusses the strange history of imitations, as well as our ever-changing psychological and socioeconomic relationships with them. After all, fakes aren't going anywhere; they seem to be going everywhere.

Andrew Bomback, M.D., is Assistant Professor of Medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, USA. His writing has appeared in the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Atlantic, The Kenyon Review, The Millions, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, New Delta Review, Essay Daily, and Hobart.

Kati Stevens is a public affairs specialist working in Washington, D.C. Her writing has appeared in Electric Literature, The Billfold, and The Hairpin.
